Otake Kiln was named by a kyogen performer, Mr. Man Nomura, who was also known as a living National treasure. My work embodies the “kyogen spirit.” Kyogen is like an Otake – a big bamboo, clear with few joints. I have been making pottery pieces for 46 years and my products are both traditional and functional.
All of these incomparable products are completed with many excellent processes, such as hand wheeling, hand drawing, biscuit firing, final firing and so on. I was fascinated by the miracle shine of Shino ware when I was a high school student, and decided to be a pottery artist. You can use all these products at your own dining table, since they are really easy to handle almost for anyone. Of course you can use them as interior decorations because they are very stylish as well.
